Welcome to Compulsive Eaters Anonymous-HOW San Diego, a chapter of Compulsive Eaters Anonymous-HOW World Service Incorporated. The World Service Office is located in Long Beach California.
To the newcomer........
Most of us found our way to CEA-HOW (Honesty, Open-mindedness, and Willingness) because we were uncomfortable with the ways in which we were dealing with food and eating. We have found that our CEA-HOW meetings offer a disciplined and structured approach to the food addict who accepts the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions as a program of recovery. The HOW Concept is based on the belief that our disease is absolute and only absolute acceptance of the CEA-HOW program will offer any sustained abstinence to those of us whose compulsion has reached a critical level. Therefore, the CEA-HOW plan of eating, steps, traditions, and tools of recovery are not suggested. Rather, we accept them as requirements for our recovery.
CEA-HOW is not a diet club or a weight loss program. We believe that we are compulsive eaters who "use" food the same way that alcoholics or drug addicts "use" their substance of choice. We've found that the 12 Step program of recovery, modeled after that of Alcoholics Anonymous, is a proven, workable method to achieve abstinence from compulsive eating, learn to live without excess food, and discover a more satisfying way of life.
